Clay - Gallagher Artrworks

Clay

Octopus

Along with photography, I divide my time between clay and metal - I hand build my pots with slabs of clay plus weld found-metal sculptures. Since I don't sell my artworks, this results in a surplus of finished pieces which I give away to family, friends and neighbors.

Giving away my pottery to strangers is a challenge. Because of their bulk, I'm not able to slip one under a windshield wiper like I do with my photos but I like leaving them on a car.

So while out and about, I place a pot on a random car up by the windshield so it's easily seen by the driver, otherwise they may drive away while the pot rolls off the hood - YIKES, wouldn't want that. On these pots is my card with the following on the back:

FROM ME 2 U

THIS IS MY SURPLUS POTTERY, FOOD SAFE

*KEEP OR PASS ON TO OTHERS PLEASE*

I'm not going to chronicle every pot I give away but I'll show you some new pots as they come out of the kiln.
